The Cottage Hospital was founded in 1873 and this book charts its growth into an ultra modern hospital in 2011. On the way we look at the people who gave so much both in terms of volunteering, working at the hospital and fundraising. Previously unpublished photographs of all the old wards have been used and gives an excellent account of life at the hospital.

A brilliant and well researched local history book and it was a privilege to read before publication. The aural history from both the retired and current staff gives a real insight to their time working at the hospital. The wonderful photographs of the old wards make it an exceptional book and certainly compliments the Whiston Workhouse book.
